about
Carl Stone remixes Booker Stardrum's “Parking Lot,” a track off of his newly released album CRATER -- available on LP and digital formats via NNA Tapes.
Carl Stone: "Booker gave me carte blanche, and so I wanted to return with a track that was not blanche but featured instead many colors and flavors, mixed in with his music, disassembled and reformulated, as in a post-post-modern entree."
Booker Stardrum: “Discovering Carl's recordings was a revelation for me. My introduction to his music was through the 2018 reissue compilation 'Electronic Music From The 80s and 90s.' Obviously late to the game! I was struck by the emotion in these four tracks and I loved the way he created sonic taffy by meticulously stretching and manipulating samples. Shortly after hearing his music for the first time, I recognized him at a show in LA and introduced myself. We've been friends ever since. If I was going to have only a single remix made for the album, it was a no brainer. I had no idea which track he'd pick or what he'd do to it. So, I'm honored to hear the way he picked apart and put the song back together again--imposing chord changes where there weren't any before--adding an almost baroque-punk harmonic and rhythmic sensibility. To be expected, it's strange and wonderful! Enjoy.”

Magic in its purest form. I love Floating Points, I love Pharoah Sanders, I love The London Symphony Orchestra. It's a match made in heaven, and the result is absolutely gorgeous. I have loved this record since its release, and realized I don't own it for some reason. So its time to change that. 9.5/10 honestly could become a 10/10 on an indepth vinyl relisten. angrypizza98
